What are the dates for the Festival?

Where does the Festival happen?
The Festival happens in and around Alice Springs/Mparntwe in the Northern Territory. Our event takes place on Arrernte country and we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of this land, the Central Arrernte people, on which we live, create and work. For more information about visiting Alice Springs, please click here.

Where can I get a Festival Program?
Our printed program will be available for download once the program is officially launched. You can pick up a printed copy of the program at local cafes and businesses around Alice Springs or drop into Red Hot Arts Central Australia. Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be kept in the loop.

Do I need to buy tickets?
We have a range of free and ticketed events within the 2020 Desert Festival Program. Check the event listing under ‘What’s On’ and follow the ticketing link to either register for a free event or purchase a ticket. In light of COVID-19, all free Desert Festival events in 2020 require patrons to register. You can pre-register online to reserve your spot and skip the queue at the venue or register at the door on arrival. Please note that registering at the door may take extra time to collect your details. We highly recommend registering to reduce waiting time to help us manage queues and social distancing.

Who runs Desert Festival?
Desert Festival is produced by Red Hot Arts Central Australia.

Does the Desert Festival run a schools program?
Yes, we work closely with local schools to involve young people within the arts and cultural life of the Central Desert. Education staff, please contact us if you want to discuss possibilities.

Are the venues accessible?
We endeavour to make all venues accessible however, it may vary from time to time depending on the type of event. It is best to check with the venue directly or contact us if you would like further information.

Is there food and drink available at events?
Check the 2020 Venues listing on this website to find out more about each venue. Most Desert Festival venues do offer food and beverages however, there are also a great selection of cafes and restaurants in Alice Springs.

How can I perform at Desert Festival?

Expression of interest for 2020 have closed. Follow us on social media and keep your eyes peeled for when we open our expressions of interest process for the 2021 Desert Festival.
